ASCENDING TIE—FLY SWIMS UP DESCENDING TIE—FLY SWIMS DOWN

BASIC TYING INSTRUCTIONS: TYING FLYLIPP TO HOOK

1) Wrap thread base halfway down the hook shank.

2) Apply a small drop of super glue to the goove in the FlyLipp, then place the FlyLipp on the hook shank in either ascending or descending position. Position FlyLipp approximately 1/16 of an inch behind the hook eye.

3) Tie on by tightly wrapping the full length of the Flylipp shank. Wrap a few extra turns at the base of the Flylipp blade for added support. You’re now ready to tie your favorite pattern.

GENERAL TYING TIPS

• Stacking hair on the top of the hook shank helps the fly run "true."

• In many patterns — like the Gil Drake Diver and Topwater Deceiver — the addition of a weedless mono loop serves two purposes: it makes it weedless as well as helps to prevent material fouling.

• Longer ties, require a larger Lipp.

• Short, sparse ties have more side-to-side action.

• If necessary, place a small drop of hot melt glue directly behind the blade of the FlyLipp to strengthen it and add support.

• See individual pattern recipes for additional tying tips and options.

• You can vary the amount of action a fly has by trimming the Flylipp or tying a fuller/longer tie. Decrease action by trimming the FlyLipp with nail clippers. Try to trim the FlyLipp as symmetrical as possible.

• Sharpen your hook before tying any pattern. I use a diamond-coated nail file (cheap) and it works great!
